The Cuban reggaeton artist Dany Ome reacted with irony and evident frustration to the start of the event "Start of Summer 2026" in Varadero, as he watched other artists travel to Cuba to perform without facing the same level of criticism that he has endured in recent years.
Through a video posted on Instagram alongside Kevincito El 13, the singer made it clear that he is still very attentive to everything happening around the event.
“Everyone can go, the one who can't go is me,” he commented with a laugh, in a phrase that quickly caught the attention of his followers.
During the conversation, Dany Ome joked about the possibility of performing at the end of summer in Cuba.
"Kevin, what do you think if we sign up for the closing?" he asked. To which Kevincito replied, "Given the situation, we have to go for the closing."
Dany Ome's response was more direct: “This is a mockery. They talk to me about morality, immoral people.”
Kevincito also spoke out on his social media, leaving a message that many interpreted as a reference to the criticism they often receive when they talk about singing on the island.
"I hope they don't attack us when we want to sing to my people in Cuba," he wrote.
Dany Ome didn't take long to respond in the comments: "Don't expect anything. The ones who can't go are you and me."
However, the artist wanted to make it clear that their frustration is not directed at those who chose to travel to Cuba to participate in the event.
"Be careful, I have nothing against those who were affected. My pain is with those who have turned that pain into a business.", she wrote in another comment that also went viral.
In another message, he offered a sarcastic reflection on the difference in treatment he perceives on social media.
“Padrino, I don’t see anyone saying anything. Now an influencer told me it’s because those who went don’t bring in ratings. I didn’t know it worked that way. But well, I’m the son of the Dama de Blanco and the double standard too. That closing will be a movie,” he commented in a post on Un Martí To Durako, accompanied by several laughing emojis.
The reaction comes amid a new controversy surrounding the Start of Summer in Varadero, where this year artists such as Hallel Génesis, Velito El Bufón, and other representatives of Cuban urban music participated.
The situation has a particularly sensitive component for Dany Ome because for years he has been at the center of controversies regarding his trips to Cuba.
In May 2025, during an interview on the Destino Tolk podcast, he firmly defended his right to return to the island.
"I am Cuban and I am going to Cuba as many times as I want. I go to Cuba because my family is there, my grandmother, and because I feel good," he stated then.
In that same conversation, he also recalled that his mother was a member of the Damas de Blanco, an argument he often uses to respond to those who accuse him of sympathizing with the Cuban regime.
For this reason, upon seeing that other artists participate in similar events without facing the same level of scrutiny, Dany Ome believes there is a double standard.
And although he insisted that he has nothing against those who traveled to Varadero, he made it clear that he still does not understand why some criticisms seem to depend more on who is going rather than the act of going itself.
