A Cuban citizen pleaded guilty in a federal court in Nevada to several offenses related to an incident that took place at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, where he attempted to access a restricted area using a fake boarding pass and got into a altercation with security personnel and police officers.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada, Jhon Raúl Vizcaíno Ramírez admitted his responsibility for five charges arising from the events that took place on November 3, 2025.

According to the investigation, the accused presented a boarding pass issued in the name of another person to a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent in order to gain access to the secure boarding area of the airport.

When the agents requested identification documents from him, he refused to show his passport. Subsequently, when he did not retrieve his boarding pass, he reacted aggressively and struck one of the agents, according to the court documents.

The situation escalated when officers from the Metropolitan Police of Las Vegas arrived to intervene. Authorities claim that Vizcaíno Ramírez struggled with the officers, causing one of them to fall during the confrontation.

The accusation further claims that the Cuban snatched a pen from one of the agents and attempted to use it during the altercation, in addition to striking and kicking members of the security staff.

As part of the agreement reached with the Prosecutor's Office, Vizcaíno Ramírez pleaded guilty to two counts of interference with security control personnel, two counts of assault, and resisting individuals assisting law enforcement officers, as well as one count of entering a restricted area of an airport by deceit.

The ruling is scheduled for September 10 before Federal Judge Andrew P. Gordon.

According to the authorities, the accused could face up to 10 years of federal prison, in addition to a period of supervised release and monetary fines.

The case also has immigration implications. The prosecutor's office stated that Vizcaíno Ramírez was intercepted by Border Patrol agents near Yuma, Arizona, in October 2022 after illegally entering the United States from Mexico.

The authorities stated that he was later released and remained in the country without regular immigration status.

Following his arrest for the incident in Las Vegas, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a detention order against him. This means that once the federal criminal process is completed, he could be placed in immigration custody and face deportation proceedings.

The investigation was led by the TSA Office of Investigation and Law Enforcement, with support from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, while the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tina Snellings.
