The mother of Cuban comedian Eduardo "Eddy" Ceballos reported on Wednesday that her son was physically assaulted at the facility where he is being held, and she claimed that the espionage accusations made by the Military Prosecutor's Office are losing credibility.

Marieta Pérez publicly made the complaint through , where she expressed her concern for her son's physical integrity and reported what she considers an escalation of abuses against her.

"They have attacked Eddy at his location. It's no longer enough to accuse him and lock him up with baseless arguments; now they want to injure him, beat him, kill him..." he wrote.

According to the mother of the creator of Despingovery Channel, the aggression occurs at a time when the case has started to receive greater public attention both inside and outside of Cuba.

"As the case becomes more public and the evidence that the Military Prosecutor's Office claims to have to charge Eddy with espionage falls apart, other resources are being utilized," he stated.

Pérez concluded his message with a direct denunciation of the authorities.

"I denounce so much arbitrariness, so much shamelessness. This mother is standing firm and all those who do not turn a blind eye to injustice will know."

Ceballos was arrested on June 1 in the Havana municipality of Diez de Octubre, just days after posting a video exploring an abandoned military facility. The audiovisual piece showcased Soviet missiles, radars, and other structures linked to the Cold War, and was described by the creator himself as "the most warlike chapter" of his popular channel.

According to the testimony of his family members, during the operation, the agents did not allow him to return to his home or say goodbye to his wife Daniela and their four-year-old daughter.

Before his arrest, the comedian had recorded a message anticipating that possibility.

"If you are watching this video, it unfortunately means that I have been imprisoned, separated from my home, my family, and my daughter," he stated.

The authorities initially informed the family that he would be prosecuted for an alleged "military property invasion." However, the legal organization Cubalex pointed out that this crime does not exist in current Cuban criminal legislation.

Subsequently, the case evolved into a charge of "revelation of secrets concerning State Security," a charge that could be prosecuted under military jurisdiction and that carries penalties of up to 30 years in prison.

Both Cubalex and lawyer Alain Santana have questioned the legal basis of the accusations made against the content creator, arguing that the authorities have managed charges that are controversial within the Cuban legal framework.

The arrest of Ceballos has sparked a wide wave of solidarity. His channel, Despingovery Channel, gained significant popularity since 2025 thanks to his satires inspired by nature documentaries, where he humorously depicted urban deterioration, blackouts, and other everyday issues in Cuba.

The case has transcended the island's borders and has been picked up by international media, as well as sparking support campaigns on social media under the slogan "Free Eddy."

In recent days, family members and friends have intensified their accusations regarding the situation of the comedian. His father also recently gave a public testimony in which he recounted the emotional impact that the imprisonment had on both of them.

He recounted that one of the images that struck him the most was seeing his son embarrassed by his visit behind bars, an experience he described as one of the most painful of his life.
