The Cuban reggaeton artist Oniel Bebeshito took advantage of Father's Day to share a heartfelt message with his followers: he addressed not a father, but his mother, Chavela Campos, publicly acknowledging her as the person who assumed both roles in his life.

In an Instagram story posted on Sunday, the artist shared a video call with her, where both appear smiling. The text accompanying the image was straightforward and heartfelt: "Happy Father's Day @chavelacampo" and below, "I love you so much, you've always been my mom and my dad."

The gesture takes on special significance considering that Bebeshito has been away from Cuba for about a year and a half, since he emigrated to the United States, where he currently resides in Miami with his partner Rachel Arderi and their children. The distance has not weakened his bond with his mother; on the contrary, it has made it one of the most prominent aspects of his public image.

Since leaving the Island, the singer has made a series of gestures towards Chavela Campos that his fans have closely followed. In January 2024, he gifted her a reconstructed house in Havana. In March of that same year, he wrote her a public letter that circulated widely on social media. In September 2024, he spoke about the promises he had made to her and the significance of his word for him.

This year, the series of gestures continued. On March 30, Bebeshito's mother made a surprise appearance at a concert in Barcelona featuring Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13, where the audience recognized her and greeted her with enthusiasm. In April, the artist shared images of his mother enjoying a vacation in Punta Cana on a trip he gifted her. And on May 11, he surprised her with mariachis, flowers, and gifts for Mother's Day.

The Father's Day message fits into that same narrative: that of a child who grew up without a father figure and found both roles embodied in their mother.

The video call on Sunday captures, in a single image, what separates and unites mother and son: a screen between them, a shared smile, and a bond that distance has not managed to weaken.
