The family of Noel de Jesús Ramos González, a 60-year-old from Camagüey, has been searching for him for over a month without success after losing all contact with him following his departure from the Cuatro Palmas Hotel in Varadero on May 1st.

The urgent call was disseminated by the journalist from Matanzas, Yirmara Torres Hernández, on Facebook, with the permission of the brother of the missing person.

Noel resides in Camagüey, although his brother Norberto Ramos González -a dentist currently on a medical mission in Santa Lucía- estimates that he has not returned to that province since July 2025.

The last contact Norberto had with him was on April 23, via WhatsApp. Two days later, Noel communicated with his older brother, who lives in Cape Verde. On Mother’s Day, he spoke with a girlfriend he had in Havana. Since then, absolute silence.

The family confirmed with the hotel management that Noel stayed there and that his check-out date was May 1. Upon leaving, he had paid for transportation to Havana, but no one knows what happened afterward.

Torres Hernández warns in his post that the missing person was going through a very difficult personal time.

"Norberto states that his brother had serious personal problems and had expressed thoughts of harming himself." Despite this, he describes him as "a coherent person, with an impeccable appearance and financial resources, but he was very depressed."

After searching hospitals and other places for more than a month without finding any trace, the family filed a formal complaint in Camagüey.

Upon not receiving an institutional response, they decided to raise awareness about the case on social media, a resource that more and more Cuban families are forced to turn to in the absence of state mechanisms for searching for missing persons.

The situation is complicated because most of Noel's relatives are outside of Cuba. "Everyone is desperate," says Torres Hernández, who especially requests the help of those living in Varadero or Havana, the two places where the man was active in his final weeks.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Noel de Jesús Ramos González can contact his brother Norberto at 50717219 or his sister-in-law Yunaisi at 52084636.

This case adds to a series of recent disappearances in Cuba that have been highlighted exclusively through Facebook.

On the Island, there is no equivalent system to the Amber Alert (a specialized broadcast mechanism for the immediate search of children and adolescents reported missing) nor official public records of missing persons, leaving families with no other tool than social media.

According to data from the Gender Observatory of Alas Tensas, in 2025 there were at least 40 documented disappearances of women, girls, and boys in Cuba, of which six were found deceased.
