Donald Trump published this Saturday on his X account an image generated by artificial intelligence depicting him as the titan Atlas from Greek mythology, holding the globe on his shoulders with a serious and determined expression.

In the hyper-realistic illustration, the president is depicted in a dark suit, red tie, and a sash in the colors of the American flag wrapped like a cape, standing on rocks in a mountainous setting with dramatic lighting and a halo of light surrounding the planet.

The symbolism is direct: Atlas is the titan of Greek mythology condemned to carry the weight of the world for eternity, and the image equates him with Trump as the indispensable leader who bears the global responsibility on his shoulders.

What stands out is that the White House's own National Security Strategy, published in December 2025, stated that "the era of sustaining the entire world order like Atlas has ended," which makes this publication a notable contradiction to the official narrative of its own administration.

Capture of Truth Social

This is not the first time that Trump has resorted to AI imagery with messianic or heroic symbolism.

In April 2026, he posted on Truth Social an image depicting him as Jesus Christ healing a sick person in a hospital bed, wearing a white robe and with hands radiating light, surrounded by American flags, fighter jets, and figures with angelic appearances.

The image remained online for over 12 hours before being removed without an official explanation, after generating a strong negative reaction even among its conservative and Catholic allies, who deemed it blasphemous.

The activist Isabel Brown described it as "disgusting," while Riley Gaines warned that "God should not be mocked." Trump attempted to justify it by arguing that he intended to portray himself as a Red Cross doctor.

Days later, the president posted another AI image in which Jesus embraces him with the American flag in the background, and he had also previously shared an illustration of himself dressing like the Pope.

In May 2026, Trump intensified this strategy with war-themed memes that included the phrases "It Was The Calm Before The Storm" and animations of warships with the text "Fire. Boom.", also disseminated through the official Rapid Response 47 account of the White House.

In January 2026, he had published AI-generated maps showing Canada, Greenland, and Venezuela under the American flag, combining the creation of a heroic image with specific geopolitical provocations.

The pattern is consistent: Trump uses AI imagery as a deliberate tool of political communication to project a narrative of absolute power and messianic leadership, set against a backdrop of high international tension marked by the war with Iran and the strain on the U.S. military arsenal.

The image of Atlas published this Saturday is the latest installment in that strategy, and it solidifies a narrative that its supporters celebrate and its critics view as a sign of unprecedented megalomania in U.S. presidential communication.
