Colombia and Portugal drew 0-0 this Saturday at the in the final match of the group stage of Group K of the 2026 World Cup, a result that was enough for the Colombian team to finish first in the group with 7 points.

The match, played at 7:30 PM Cuba time, was statistically controlled by Colombia, which created more opportunities but failed to break through Portugal's defense.

The most dramatic play came in the 90th minute, when Davinson Sánchez headed a corner taken short by Juanfer Quintero —who had just entered the game— and the ball went into Diogo Costa's goal.

The Colombian celebration lasted only seconds: the VAR canceled the goal for offside in a position described as "very, very tight." It was the clearest play of the match and the one that came closest to deciding it.

The figures reflect Colombian dominance: 23 shots compared to 12 from Portugal, six on target versus two, and 55% possession. The Colombians also outperformed the Portuguese in corners (five to two). The only yellow card of the match was given to Gustavo Puerta (Colombia) in the 86th minute.

Portugal made changes after the break, bringing on Joao Neves and Diogo Dalot in the 46th minute, and then opted for Rafael Leão and Samu Costa in the 70th minute.

Colombia responded with the substitutions of Luis Suárez and Richard Ríos in the 60th minute, and the entry of Quintero in the 76th minute, who was involved in the corner kick that led to the disallowed goal.

With the draw, in first place with seven points, resulting from two victories and one draw in three matches. Portugal advances as the second qualifier with five points. The Democratic Republic of Congo came in third with four points, and Uzbekistan ended the stage without any points.

Colombia's performance in this World Cup had been strong: a 3-1 victory against Uzbekistan on the first day and a 1-0 win over the DRC with a goal from Daniel Muñoz in the 76th minute, a result that had already secured their progression to the next round.

In the round of 32, Colombia will face Ghana on July 3 in Kansas City, while Portugal will take on Croatia in their next World Cup match.
