A Cuban entrepreneur based in Miami shared a TikTok video this week that encapsulates what it means to build a life from scratch in exile: his luxury cocktail and charcuterie company was hired to cater a private event attended by some of the greatest legends in the history of world football.
The entrepreneur, identified as Alex, shared with visible excitement how he served cocktails and artistic charcuterie face-to-face to Ronaldo, Romário, Roberto Carlos, Marco Materazzi, and Gabriel Batistuta during the excitement of the 2026 World Cup, which has Miami as one of its main venues.
"We left Cuba a couple of years ago because of a regime that stifled dreams, arriving in this country in search of freedom, and we had to start completely from scratch," Alex said in the video, published last Tuesday.
What came after that difficult beginning is what makes the story special.
"If when I started with Rose Luxe Bar they had told me that I would end up preparing luxury cocktails and our artistic charcuterie for world champions like Ronaldo El Fenómeno, Romário, Roberto Carlos, Marco Materazzi, and Gabriel Batistuta, I would have said they were absolutely crazy!" he wrote in the video description.
Alex particularly highlighted the gesture of Romário, who gave him a thumbs up as a sign of approval, and mentioned that Roberto Baggio shared the moment of the event on his own social media, a detail that, in his own words, he "still finds hard to believe."
"People I grew up watching lift the World Cup on television, and seeing them last night enjoy our luxury service and give us their approval with a smile is something I still can't believe," she expressed in the recording.
The context helps to understand how it was possible to bring so many legends together in one place: Miami will host seven matches of the 2026 World Cup, including a quarter-final on July 11 and the third-place match on July 18, making the city a natural meeting point for historic figures in sports.
The story of this Cuban entrepreneur is among those of hundreds who have successfully built businesses in the United States starting from virtually nothing, turning necessity into motivation.
"Arriving in this country and starting from scratch teaches you that when there is discipline, passion, and a standard of excellence, sacrifices are rewarded," Alex summarized before closing the video with a promise: "This is just the beginning.
