The charitable foundation of Metallica, All Within My Hands (AWMH), announced this Thursday a donation of 100,000 dollars for the victims of the earthquakes that devastated Venezuela, channeling the funds through its long-time ally, the humanitarian organization Direct Relief.

The announcement came via the official Metallica account on Twitter, where the band explained the extent of the catastrophe and the allocation of resources: “In response to the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela, AWMH is providing $100,000 in support through our long-standing partner, Direct Relief.”

The earthquakes that prompted the donation occurred on June 24, 2026, when two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 shook the northern part of the country just 39 seconds apart, with epicenters in the states of Yaracuy and Carabobo.

The most affected areas were Caracas and the state of La Guaira, where hundreds of buildings collapsed. According to official figures, the death toll has risen to 2,295 people, with over 11,000 injured and nearly 13,000 directly affected.

The band noted that the UN estimates that up to 6.8 million Venezuelans could be affected, including displaced individuals and those who have lost access to electricity and water, while more than 68,000 people were reported missing in the first three days of the disaster.

Approximately 63,000 buildings were damaged, of which 434 completely collapsed, and the economic losses are estimated at 6.7 billion dollars, equivalent to 6% of Venezuela's GDP.

AWMH funds will be allocated for first aid supplies, hygiene items for displaced families, medications for treating acute injuries, and drugs for chronic illnesses of individuals whose access to routine care has been disrupted.

Direct Relief had been operating in Venezuela since the early days of the disaster, financing the deployment of search and rescue teams and distributing medical supplies to local organizations.

The donation from Metallica adds to a wave of international solidarity. The United States committed over 300 million dollars in humanitarian aid, the European Union contributed five million euros, and Amancio Ortega donated three million euros to the Spanish Red Cross for the victims.

More than 1,000 rescuers from 16 countries were deployed in Venezuelan territory.

AWMH was founded by Metallica in 2017 with the aim of supporting communities in the areas of education, disaster relief, and skills development for young people.

This is not the first time the foundation has responded to a natural disaster: in 2018, it had already allocated $100,000 for relief efforts related to the wildfires in California.

"The donation of $100,000 from AWMH will support Direct Relief as the organization continues to respond to requests in the region as they arise," the band concluded in their statement.
