The Ministry of the Interior (MININT) of the Cuban regime reported this Wednesday the confiscation of two vessels located in remote coastal areas of Camagüey and Guantánamo.

According to the Border Guard Troops Directorate, both seizures were formalized through resolutions from the Chief of the National Department of Port Captaincies dated May 27, 2026, although the discoveries occurred months earlier.

The first vessel is a fast fiberglass boat, colored white and blue, with the labels "Cynthia SLI534" on the starboard side and "FDC 002123" on the port side, equipped with a 175 HP Yamaha outboard motor with four cylinders.

The Border Guard Troops located it on December 3, 2025, in Cayo Cruz, Esmeralda municipality, Camagüey province, and its confiscation was formalized through Resolution No. 03/2026.

That same boat had already been reported as a finding by the Captaincy of Nuevitas at the end of 2025, when an initial period for claiming it was opened.

As no owner appeared, formal confiscation took place in May 2026.

The second vessel is a white aluminum boat, without any additional identifying information —no name, registration number, or registered motor— found on January 8, 2026, in the area known as "Mesa Abajo, Playa Rufino," Cayo Güin, Baracoa municipality, Guantánamo province.

Its confiscation was formalized through Resolution No. 04/2026, although the Port Captaincy of Guantánamo did not publicly report the finding until April 9, 2026, more than three months later than the actual date of the encounter.

Both confiscations are based on Resolution No. 1/2015 from the Minister of the Interior, which regulates the procedures for the Cuban state to appropriate vessels found in the territorial waters of the island.

The mechanism stipulates that the potential affected parties have 20 calendar days from the publication in a national circulation newspaper to file a written complaint with the Chief of the Border Guard Troops Directorate.

This practice is systematic. In May 2026, the MININT had already confiscated a Bahamian-flagged speedboat named «Bombay 2», found in November 2025 also in the Esmeralda area, Camagüey.

Cayo Cruz and Cayo Güin are remote coastal points, often linked to attempts at illegal emigration or the drifting of boats, which makes these areas recurring sites for maritime finds that the regime transforms into state confiscations.

So far in 2026, the MININT has published at least three rounds of confiscations of this type, a trend that repeats year after year and which in 2022 included the capture of 11 go-fast boats by the Guardafronteras throughout that year.
