The Cuban singer Frank Almaguer became one of the key figures at the premiere of the eleventh season of "Yo Me Llamo," the popular imitation reality show from Caracol Televisión, by performing the song "Quién" by the Spanish artist Pablo Alborán in front of the show's judges.
His performance achieved something that no participant had accomplished in the previous ten seasons: convincing the panel with an imitation of Pablo Alborán, becoming the first "Yo Me Llamo Pablo Alborán" in the history of the contest.
The juror Amparo Grisales had the most emotional reaction, and her words summed up the impact of the performance: "I have been waiting 11 seasons for a Pablo Alborán. Pablo, here he is, for me he is indeed called brother."
Grisales also highlighted that Almaguer achieved "the two arms of protection," a special recognition within the program, and admitted that the performance caused her "a tremor in her seat."
At the end of his presentation, Frank Almaguer did not hide his emotion and proudly introduced himself to the audience and the jury: "For me, it’s a dream to be here; I have always watched the program from my country. Please forgive my emotion, I am Cuban. Long live my beautiful Cuba!"
Almaguer received the unanimous approval of the four judges of the program —Amparo Grisales, César Escola, Elder Dayán Díaz, and Aurelio Cheveroni— which allowed him to advance in the competition.
The impact of his performance quickly spread across social media. The main video of his presentation on Facebook has accumulated over 581,000 views and 50,000 reactions, while other clips from the same night add hundreds of thousands of additional views.
Beyond the reality show, Frank Almaguer has his own musical career that had already caught attention before his appearance on the Colombian program. His song "Color Café," released in March 2026, has over 167,000 views on YouTube.
The artist himself, brother of actor Carlos Luis González, clarified on his social media that his participation in "Yo Me Llamo" does not mean he is abandoning his musical identity: "I will continue making my own music, I will keep sharing my style, which is obviously influenced by Pablo Alborán, because he is an artist I admire immensely."
The call for this season of the program received over 3,500 applicants from ten countries, including Cuba, and the prize for the adult winner amounts to 500 million Colombian pesos.
Frank Almaguer concluded his message of gratitude to his followers with a direct request: "Join me, don’t leave me alone in this new adventure."
