A clip published this Friday on Instagram by Amanda Sanz and her partner Celle sparked an intense controversy on social media by showcasing an informal proposal filmed inside a car, with the overlay text: "A 'yes, I do' without all the fuss."
The video, which garnered over 9,280 likes and 179 comments in just a few hours, arrived weeks after the couple officially announced their engagement on July 9, when Celle wrote on his hand "She said Yes" while displaying the engagement ring.
The comment that sparked the debate came from a user who criticized them strongly: “Don’t normalize this kind of proposal, wtf. You call it a 'movie' when a man makes an effort to turn that moment into a special event that only happens once in all the years of a relationship. Kneeling to honor you and ask you to be his life partner is not a movie; romanticizing moments with the person you love is not a movie; it’s living. Because of women like you, there are men like him,” she wrote.
The comment also included a direct criticism of Amanda: "You don't have to criticize wonderful proposals that have been made to women with valuable feminine energy, simply because you weren't one of them."
Several male users joined the criticism: "What a real and wise comment. I’m a man, and I can confirm that."
Both Celle and Amanda went out to respond directly to the comment. Celle chose irony: "It's content, but I’ll tell you that those are the classics that get divorced after three days."
Amanda, for her part, tried to ease the tension: "Everything is very nice, but everyone should enjoy what they like and be happy. This video is content!! But still, read other comments and you'll see that everyone has their own opinion. Big hugs, queen."
Not all the comments were critical. One user defended the couple's stance: "The real act of love begins afterward. The romantic proposal, as you say, lasts a moment. True marriage lasts a lifetime."
Another internet user added that an informal proposal "is often even more sincere; it comes from something that has already been discussed, which your partner knows you will say yes to, because you are both on the same page, in the same wavelength, and 100 percent sure that you love each other."
The relationship between Amanda and Celle became public in May 2025, when she confirmed it, and since then the couple has built an active presence on social media, including musical collaborations like "Te quiero de lejos", released in September 2025.
The debate generated by the clip reflects a broader tension regarding romantic expectations in the era of social media, where the line between real life and content created for platforms is becoming increasingly blurred.
