A supposed wedding invitation that circulated on social media sparked excitement among millions of followers: Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez would be getting married on Saturday, August 1, at Quinta da Regaleira, the iconic 19th-century palace in Sintra, Portugal. The news, shared by the Portuguese program V+Fama, went viral within hours and was picked up by dozens of international media outlets. However, the excitement was short-lived: the couple's associates firmly denied the rumors.
The document that ignited the spark included a message that read: "Together with their families, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez request the honor of your presence at the celebration of their wedding." The supposed invitation set the ceremony for five in the afternoon on Saturday, with a dress code in black, which made more than one person dream of seeing them arrive at the altar dressed in white.
However, journalist Iván García, a close friend of Georgina, was emphatic: "The wedding invitation made public by the V+Fama program is fake; there will be no wedding this Saturday." Several Spanish magazines also consulted a source very close to the couple, who denied any planned nuptials for that weekend.
The magazine ¡HOLA! took it a step further and confirmed the schedule for the Quinta da Regaleira: the venue will be open to the public on August 1 with regular tourist visits, and in the evening, it will host the show A Todas As Mulheres by the artist Silvana Peres. Hardly compatible with the wedding of the year.
Journalist Adriano Silva Martins from V+Fama had questioned the authenticity of the invitation from the start and reached out to the palace, which responded with a brief "We will not comment on that." This ambiguity was enough to fuel rampant rumors.
The rumor made some sense. Cristiano had publicly stated in November 2025 that the wedding would take place after the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup, a tournament from which Portugal was eliminated by Spain in the round of 16. With the schedule clear, fans believed that the moment had arrived.
The couple has been in a relationship for approximately ten years and announced their engagement on August 11, 2025, when Georgina posted a photo of the ring on Instagram with the message "Yes, I do.
