A young Cuban content creator reported this Friday that thieves broke into her home in Camagüey during the early hours while several people were inside, stealing an EcoFlow Delta 2 power station and an electric bicycle, along with the house and vehicle keys.
The report was published by Grett Argil on Facebook, who explained that she decided to record the video after calming down and processing what had happened.
"I was robbed," she began by saying before recounting how they discovered that someone had entered the house without any of those present noticing.
According to her account, around 11:00 PM, the electricity returned to her neighborhood, and at that moment, the front door of the house was closed. Inside the home were herself, her brother, her sister-in-law, and a friend.
Around 1:40 in the morning, her sister-in-law came to her room to ask if she had gone out, because she found the door "wide open".
Argil assured that she had stayed awake and did not hear anything unusual.
At that moment, they partially checked the house, but did not detect anything missing. The extent of the theft became apparent around 7:00 in the morning when his brother was getting ready to go to work and discovered that the EcoFlow Delta 2 and his sister-in-law’s electric bicycle were no longer there.
"I can't explain the stress, the level of agitation that my brother, my sister-in-law, and I experienced," he recalled.
The young woman emphasized the effort it takes for a Cuban family to obtain this type of equipment.
They are valuable things, things that are hard to obtain, he expressed, and lamented that someone could just come in and take them «just like that».
Argil mentioned that some people told him that, given the seriousness of the episode, it was better that none of the residents of the house encountered the thief, as the confrontation could have had worse consequences.
However, he admitted that it is difficult for him to accept the loss precisely because of how complicated it was to acquire those assets.
"You don't know how much it costs, the effort it takes both for one's family and for oneself to achieve those things," he stated.
According to his testimony, the keys to the house and the motorbike also disappeared.
The young Cuban explained that they called the police shortly after 7:00 in the morning, but the officers did not arrive at the house until after 5:00 in the afternoon because, as they were told, they were dealing with another incident involving a deceased person.
By then, he added, a heavy downpour had fallen and it was no longer possible to find any potential traces at the scene. That account of the police response corresponds exclusively to the report of the complainant.
Argil estimated that an electric bike similar to the one that was stolen currently exceeds $1,700 and that an EcoFlow can cost more than $700.
Beyond the price, he emphasized the importance of these devices in tackling everyday challenges in Cuba, particularly issues related to electricity and fuel.
These are sacrifices one makes to be just a little better in this country. For someone to come and snatch it away from you, I believe that's the worst thing that can happen to you, he lamented.
The robbery caught her by surprise, especially because she claimed she had never before been a victim of such an incident, nor could she recall any similar occurrences in her neighborhood.
"I'm still a bit in shock that this happened, right here in my house and exactly the way it did," he acknowledged.
Despite the blow, Argil assured that he is trying to focus on the fact that none of the occupants of the house were harmed.
"I'm healthy, I'm alive, which is what matters, but it’s true that it hurts," she stated, before expressing her gratitude for the support from those who reached out to her after learning what had happened.
This is not the first recent complaint related to the theft of equipment used to address power outages.
In February, a family from Cárdenas, Matanzas, reported that several individuals entered a home in broad daylight and took an EcoFlow station.
The complainant then stated that those responsible went directly to retrieve the equipment.
Days later, another case was reported in Amancio, Las Tunas, where a woman filed a complaint about the theft of an AVA 150 motorcycle, an EcoFlow device, and several engine parts.
On that occasion, the affected party also emphasized that the assets had been obtained through years of hard work and family sacrifice.
In Havana, there have also been reports of the theft of transportation means. In July 2025, a messenger reported the theft of his bicycle while making a delivery in the El Canal neighborhood, in the Cerro municipality.
