The president of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed the departure of Karoline Leavitt as White House press secretary at the end of this month and publicly highlighted her work and loyalty over the past years.
In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump explained that Leavitt will be stepping down to spend more time with his young children and family, a decision that he stated he fully understands and respects.
"Our wonderful White House Press Secretary and one of my most trusted advisors, Karoline Leavitt will be leaving her position at the end of the month to spend more time with her beautiful young children and her family," the President stated.
However, Trump made it clear that Leavitt's departure from the White House will not mean her disengagement from the political sphere. The president announced that the official will become one of his main external advisors and will maintain a significant presence within the Republican Party.
He also linked Leavitt's future role to the Republican strategy for the upcoming midterm elections, in which his party will seek to strengthen its political position.
Trump dedicated a significant part of his message to praising the career of his collaborator. He described her as "a true leader" within the White House and asserted that she has done "a phenomenal job since 2018", including her role during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Donald Trump was emphatic in assessing Leavitt's performance as a spokesperson for his Administration. “Karoline has been one of the best press secretaries in the history of the White House,” he stated.
