A fire reached two homes this Friday in the area of Cayo Chiquito, in the municipality of Moa, Holguín, and forced the mobilization of firefighters to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby houses.

The official profile Realidades desde Holguín reported that the firefighting efforts involved members of the Special Command #30 from Moa and the emergency unit of the Pedro Soto Alba Company.

According to the report, the fire reached the two homes "in a matter of minutes", but the intervention of the specialized forces allowed its spread to be contained before it reached other houses in the area.

A water tanker from a local entity also participated in the efforts, and its support was noted as crucial in halting the spread.

"The immediate mobilization of specialized forces and the decisive support of a local economic resource were crucial in preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring houses," stated the publication.

The report stated that there were no fatalities and that the actions of the emergency teams helped protect residents and limit damage.

So far, the causes of the fire, the extent of damage to the two homes, and the amount of material losses have not been reported.

Just in August, several fires have been reported in various locations across Cuba.

In just the last few weeks, several fires have affected different areas of Cuba. The most recent incident before the disaster in Moa occurred in Villa Clara, where a fire damaged the electrical substation in Jicotea, in Ranchuelo, leaving a significant part of the town without electricity for several days.

At the end of July, another fire affected the perimeter area of the Santiago Este substation in Santiago de Cuba, forcing an emergency interruption of service in four circuits while firefighters and electrical workers attempted to control the flames.

Days prior, an electrical failure caused a fire in the home of singer Jorge Junior, damaging the electrical panel, cables, and other areas of the property.
