A video shared this Thursday on the Facebook page "Connected with Luis Dener" shows an alleged thief bound in Villa Clara, while those holding him point out items as evidence of the theft and warn that the individual had already committed one theft and was about to commit another when he was intercepted.

In the recording, which lasts only nine seconds, a voice declares: "And with proof. The proof is there, look at it. I already had it and was going for the other one. Look how beautiful." On the ground, a box of canned drinks can be seen, and there is also a bicycle.

The case adds to a series of similar incidents reported in various Cuban provinces during 2026.

In July, residents of the Fructuoso Rodríguez neighborhood in Cárdenas caught and tied up a suspected thief in a building before the authorities arrived.

On August 23, a similar scene unfolded in Camagüey, where neighbors captured an alleged thief in the backyard of a house. A few days later, another report was released detailing a capture following a cellphone snatching in El Vedado.

In response to the slow or absent police response, communities in Cárdenas, Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba, Havana, Cienfuegos, and now Villa Clara have chosen to take matters into their own hands by detaining those they catch in the act.
