Spectacular waterspouts surprised residents and visitors of Navarre Beach this Monday in the northwestern part of Florida, as they were captured from the shore while forming over the waters of the Gulf.
The profile Beautiful Moments Photography by BeBe shared several photographs and videos of the phenomenon during the morning, which was clearly observable from the beach.
The reports indicate that at least two waterspouts were observed.
In one of the videos, the profile explicitly identified one of the formations as "the second waterspout" and highlighted its size.
"This was the second waterspout, it was huge!" wrote in one of the first posts.
In another image, he celebrated having "front row seats from Navarre Beach to watch the waterspout" and drew attention to the individuals who remained in the water while the phenomenon was observed from a distance.
The user who shared the phenomenon later described the scene as "quite epic" and confirmed that it took place on the morning of this Monday.
But it was in a fourth post where he described in greater detail how one of the formations evolved.
"It was amazing to see how this waterspout formed. The first photo was the first one we saw, and then it went away and came back bigger and better," he reported.
The morning weather conditions were consistent with this type of phenomenon.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, which also covers the Pensacola area, issued a special marine warning for the coastal waters from Pensacola to the Okaloosa-Walton county line this Monday at 6:11 a.m., specifically the section of the Panhandle where Navarre Beach is located.
The warning indicated that strong storms detected by radar were capable of producing waterspouts and gusts of wind of 34 knots or more.
The NWS also warned that these phenomena can capsize vessels and create dangerous conditions at sea, while small boats could be damaged due to stronger gusts and sudden increases in wave height.
The phenomenon did not appear in isolation in the area either.
Just a day earlier, on Sunday morning, the NWS itself reported rains and storms capable of producing waterspouts about nine nautical miles south of Navarre Beach.
According to the National Weather Service, waterspouts are vortices that develop over water.
There are formations associated with severe storms and others of a non-supercell type, commonly referred to as "fair-weather" waterspouts, which are especially frequent in Florida during the rainy season.
Although many of them are relatively small and brief, they can pose a danger to navigators.
Florida has recorded several similar episodes this summer.
On August 23, the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed an EF-0 tornado in Port St. Lucie that, during part of its path, passed over the St. Lucie River as a waterspout and later made landfall again.
The phenomenon reached maximum estimated winds of between 65 and 75 mph, traveled about 2.1 miles, and caused no fatalities or injuries.
Also on August 1, a waterspout was spotted over the Banana River, northwest of Port Canaveral.
The phenomenon was observed around 3:50 p.m., recorded by a camera at Port Canaveral, and quickly dissipated over the water. No damage or injuries were reported.
Another episode occurred on July 17 near Sebastian Inlet. According to a report from the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a waterspout made landfall approximately one mile south of Sebastian Inlet and was classified as an EF-0 tornado, with maximum estimated winds of 65 mph. There were also no reported fatalities or injuries.
These phenomena are common along the state's shores. In June 2025, two spectacular twin waterspouts were captured simultaneously off Anna Maria Island, on Florida's west coast.
