A Cuban content creator turned a "sugar baby" proposal she received on Instagram into a comedy, and her reaction went viral, garnering nearly 10,000 likes in just a few hours.
Amelia, @amelia_sin_filtro on Instagram, posted the reel with the text "I accepted" and triggered a wave of reactions among her followers.
It all started with a message in Portuguese sent by a user identified as David, an account with only eight followers, proposing to become his "sugar baby" in exchange for $5,000 a week.
The text, translated into English, said: "Hello dear, I hope a potential new friend doesn't hurt you. I hope you don't take offense, but I find you very attractive and I would like you to be my sugar baby, just informing you of my intentions. You will receive a weekly allowance of $5,000 from me."
The first obstacle was the language: the creator admitted in the video that she didn’t understand anything of the message when she received it. “If it's in Portuguese, I didn’t understand a single thing of what he said,” she acknowledged before going to translate it. Little by little, she read through the offer until she reached the point where he was offering her money to be his sugar baby.
Once he understood the proposal, his reaction came with all the irony of Cuban humor: instead of rejecting it with genuine outrage, he pretended that the amount was very tempting because it's much more than he earns in a week of work.
"It seems to me a lack of respect," she stated on camera, threatening to toss her work clothes in the trash. "Right now, I'm going to throw away the baking clothes. Of course, David, count me in," she said, pretending to get rid of her belongings in response to the offer.
The phrase that became the heart of the video was direct and powerful: "What am I doing working for less than 5,000 pesos a week?"
The punchline, however, came at the end: the creator humorously accepted the proposal but lowered her own demands, as if she were going to accept such an offer for less money. "With 2,000 pesos a week, I'm good. A little kiss upfront," she told David, ending the sketch with a very Cuban twist that had her followers laughing: "A cookie class, David."
The video by @amelia_sin_filtro, with that characteristic Cuban humor, highlighted a common issue on social media: misleading messages, scams, and false or inappropriate "job" offers that influencers and content creators frequently receive, especially if they are women.
