A passenger removed all her clothing mid-flight on an American Airlines flight from Baltimore to Miami, exposing herself to other travelers. This situation prompted the crew to alert authorities to wait for the plane upon its arrival.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 11, aboard flight AA1779, when the Airbus A319 was at an altitude of about 38,000 feet, according to the specialized portal AIRLIVE.
As the Airbus A319 was heading to Florida, the flight attendants alerted the pilots about a situation involving a passenger seated in row 9.
According to the ACARS system records released by AIRLIVE, the chief flight attendant reported that the woman had "removed all her clothing" and had engaged in indecent acts in view of nearby passengers.
The message sent from the plane also indicated that the incident should be reported to the American Airlines Integrated Operations Center and that law enforcement would be required upon landing.
Despite the incident, the pilots continued to Miami without diverting the flight.
The plane landed in Miami at approximately 11:23 p.m. and later arrived at gate D2 of the North Terminal, where agents were waiting for its arrival. The passenger was detained, according to AIRLIVE.
The flight had taken off from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport shortly after 9:00 p.m., nearly two hours later than scheduled.
The episode adds to other recent incidents involving passengers on flights linked to Miami. In January, two models were arrested on an American Airlines flight after occupying first-class seats that did not belong to them and refusing to follow the crew's instructions.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has maintained a zero-tolerance policy since 2021 regarding passengers who interfere with crew members' duties. Depending on the behavior and circumstances, these incidents can lead to civil penalties or criminal charges.
As of the time the first information was published, American Airlines had not publicly disclosed any additional details about the incident.
