Lady Gaga became a mother for the first time at the age of 40. The news reached the public without an official statement or announcement on social media: it was a series of photographs published by Page Six that confirmed that the singer and her fiancé, businessman Michael Polansky, now have a child together.
The images, taken in Northern California, show the performer of Bad Romance carrying the newborn secured to her chest in a baby wrap, dressed comfortably, wearing sunglasses, and with her hair tied up. Polansky walks beside her, and they were also accompanied by Alexandra Trustman, the singer's agent.
Currently, the name, sex, and exact date of birth of the baby are unknown. It has not been revealed whether the pregnancy was conventional or by another means, as there has never been any public confirmation that Gaga was pregnant. Neither the artist nor her team has made any statements.
A source close to the couple confirmed the birth to Page Six with warm words: "They have a wonderful bubble of love. It seems like a really safe place for her." The same source added that "everything is going well" and that the singer has not had a private life since she was 22, so her quiet withdrawal after the tour makes perfect sense.
And indeed, motherhood had been one of Gaga's most frequently expressed desires for years. In October 2025, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she summed it up with a phrase that now takes on its full meaning: "What I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next leading role, hopefully."
Before that, in an interview with The New York Times in March 2025, the artist acknowledged the internal tension that the topic generated for her: “I’m also a bit at war with myself sometimes, as I prepare to—hopefully—soon become a mother.” And in 2020, with more enthusiasm than doubts, she told InStyle: “I’m really looking forward to becoming a mother. Isn’t it incredible what we can do? We can carry a human being inside us and help them grow.”
The arrival of the baby comes months after Gaga concluded her world tour The Mayhem Ball, which ended in April this year after nine months of work and 86 concerts in various countries. Since then, the singer has drastically reduced her public appearances, something that is now understood as preparation for this new stage.
Gaga and Polansky met in December 2019 at a party in Los Angeles, where they talked for three straight hours. During the pandemic, they spent the lockdown together in Malibu, which strengthened their relationship. The engagement came in April 2024, after a day of climbing, and it became public months later during the Paris Olympics when Gaga introduced Polansky as her fiancé to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
Polansky, 42 years old, is a businessman, investor, and technology executive graduated from Harvard, also known for his philanthropic work.
In November 2025, Gaga described motherhood as "what I want most" and assured that Polansky would be "a wonderful father." Life seems to have proven her right.
