Lady Gaga became a mother for the first time at the age of 40. The news reached the public without an official statement or announcement on social media: it was a series of photographs published by Page Six that confirmed that the singer and her fiancé, businessman Michael Polansky, are now parents.
The images, taken in northern California, show the performer of Bad Romance carrying her newborn close to her chest in a baby wrap, dressed in comfortable clothes, wearing sunglasses, and with her hair up. Polansky walks beside her, and they are also accompanied by Alexandra Trustman, the singer's agent.
Currently, the name, sex, and exact date of birth of the baby are unknown. It has also not been revealed whether the pregnancy was conventional or via another method, as there was never any public confirmation that Gaga was pregnant. Neither the artist nor her team have made any statements.
A source close to the couple confirmed the birth to Page Six with warm words: "They have a wonderful bubble of love. It seems like a really safe place for her." The same source added that "everything is going well" and that the singer has not had a private life since she was 22 years old, so her quiet withdrawal after the tour made perfect sense.
And the truth is that motherhood had, for years, been one of Gaga's most expressed desires. In October 2025, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she summed it up with a phrase that now carries its full meaning: "What I really want is to be a mom. That's my next leading role, I hope."
Before that, in an interview with The New York Times in March 2025, the artist had acknowledged the internal tension the topic brought her: "I am also a bit at war with myself sometimes as I prepare to—hopefully—become a mother soon." And in 2020, with more enthusiasm than doubts, she told InStyle: "I really want to be a mother. Isn't it amazing what we can do? We can carry a human being inside us and help them grow."
The arrival of the baby comes months after Gaga wrapped up her world tour The Mayhem Ball, which concluded in April of this year after nine months of work and 86 concerts in various countries. Since then, the singer has drastically reduced her public appearances, something that is now understood as preparation for this new phase.
Gaga and Polansky met in December 2019 at a party in Los Angeles, where they talked for three straight hours. During the pandemic, they spent the lockdown together in Malibu, which solidified their relationship. The engagement came in April 2024, after a day of climbing, and became public months later during the Paris Olympics, when Gaga introduced Polansky as her fiancé to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
Polansky, 42, is a businessman, investor, and technology executive who graduated from Harvard, also known for his philanthropic work.
