The rapper Nicki Minaj reignited the debate this Friday by openly expressing her love for President Donald Trump during an interview on the program The Ingraham Angle on Fox News, where she responded with a firm "absolutely nothing" when asked what she would say to those who criticize her for collaborating with the administration.
The statements, amplified by the official account of the White House "Rapid Response 47" on X, were made during the Million Dollar Pitch Competition, an entrepreneurship competition driven by the Small Business Administration (SBA) in which Minaj participated as a judge alongside entrepreneur Grant Cardone and Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia.
"I feel honored to have the opportunity to work with this administration and with President Trump," said the artist born in Trinidad and Tobago. "He has inspired many people, not just me. He is fun. He is not just smart, he is not just the president, but someone I can relate to."
Minaj went further by describing the president's personality: "Every time I see him or watch him talk to other people, he is just himself. He is very grounded. It’s easy to connect with him; it feels like he hears you, that he understands you. And I simply love him, and I’m never going to apologize for that."
When asked about her critics, the rapper was emphatic: "Apparently, they can say whatever they want and everyone is supposed to stay silent. But no, we are not going to be silent."
The live final of the Million Dollar Pitch Competition took place on the same day in Washington D.C., framed within the "Freedom 250" initiative of the Trump administration. The event offered one million dollars in prizes funded by Clover Network, Inc., distributed among five finalists, with 400,000 dollars for the winner. The television special will premiere in prime time in October.
Minaj's support for Trump is not new. In January 2026, the rapper declared herself "the number one fan" of the president during the Trump Accounts event in Washington D.C., where she publicly showcased her Trump Gold Card—the special accelerated residency visa for wealthy immigrants that costs one million dollars—and announced that she was finalizing the paperwork to obtain U.S. citizenship "at Trump's orders."
The shift is striking given that in 2018 the artist had harshly criticized the immigration policies of the then-president, recalling her own experience as an immigrant: "I can't imagine the horror of being in a strange place and having your parents taken away from you."
Minaj joins a group of entertainment figures who have expressed their support for Trump, including Mel Gibson, Kid Rock, Sylvester Stallone, and the reggaeton artist Anuel AA, who participated in the Victory Rally on January 20, 2025.
On the opposite side are Taylor Swift, Ricky Martin, Robert De Niro, and Rod Stewart, who revealed that he has ended his friendship with Trump following his return to the White House.
In the Latin scene, the Cuban musician Descemer Bueno stated in April 2026 that no democratic government has done as much as Trump and Marco Rubio against the Cuban regime, a stance that reflects the support of various Caribbean artists for the president due to his foreign policy of pressure towards Havana and other dictatorships in the region.
