Four of the six workers injured in the fire that occurred during gas repair work in Havana are now back at home, while the other two remain hospitalized under medical observation, though none is in life-threatening condition.
The update was provided this Sunday by CUPET through its official Facebook page, where it also reported that the work at the intersection of Tulipán and Oeste streets in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality has been completed.
"As a result of the accident, 6 workers were injured, of whom 4 have already received medical attention and are at home, while 2 remain in the hospital under medical observation but are not in life-threatening condition,” the company specified.
The new information raises the number of affected individuals to six. In the initial report released on Saturday, it was mentioned that five workers were injured, all belonging to the Manufactured Gas Company and not in danger for their lives.
The fire occurred in the afternoon of Saturday, September 26, while a team from the state-owned company was carrying out work to repair a malfunction affecting the gas supply in that area of the capital.
According to the available information at the time, the fire started during excavation work with heavy machinery on the public roadway. The Fire Department was able to control the flames, preventing them from spreading to other areas of the residential zone.
CUPET informed this Sunday that the work in Tulipán and Oeste has been completed and gas service has been restored for affected customers.
The Gas Manufacturing Company also expressed gratitude for the expressions of concern received following the incident.
