Next Monday, October 5th, the new podcast will launch, dedicated to Cubans who have built businesses outside the island: their real costs, their failures, and the decisions that changed everything.

The Cuban diaspora is almost always discussed in terms of arrival: how many entered, through which routes, and with what status. Much less attention is given to what happens next, when someone starts a business, hires people, and supports a family on both sides of the strait. That is the territory that $how me the mon€y wants to explore.

The program will be released weekly on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Facebook, and cibercuba.com, accompanied by an article for each episode. The format features a video interview lasting between 40 and 60 minutes with a single guest per chapter, and the premise is straightforward: to ask what is not usually asked. How much it cost to get started, what money was used to begin, what went wrong along the way, and what the guest would do differently if they could go back. No epics and no magic formulas.

At the microphone will be Katia Sánchez, a Cuban communicator and entrepreneur graduated in Social Communication from the University of Havana.

Sánchez founded the digital communication agency La Penúltima Casa in 2019 and was selected for the IVLP and YLAI professional exchange programs of the United States government.

Before this project, he co-founded and hosted El Pitch, a podcast about the Cuban entrepreneurial ecosystem that accumulated three seasons and 40 episodes, and created El Pitch Festival, with editions in Havana and Medellín and participants from over ten countries. Today, he leads Digi K, a creative agency based in Miami.

The first guest: from learning recipes on YouTube to a Michelin star

The inaugural episode features Osmel González, chef and co-owner of Emelina, a fine Cuban dining restaurant in West Palm Beach that received a Michelin star in May 2026, just a few months after opening its doors.

According to the restaurant itself, it is the first Cuban establishment in the world to achieve this.

González was born and raised in Cuba, where he studied food chemistry. Upon arriving in Miami at the age of 22, he essentially started from scratch: he cooked at a barbecue and, at a friend's suggestion, set up a catering service, learning recipes on YouTube.

Over time, he developed his career in high-end restaurants in the United States and Spain, including Matador Room, Disfrutar, and SingleThread.

He was also the chef and co-founder of EntreNos, en Tinta y Café, which received a Michelin star in 2024 and 2025 and a Green Star in 2025, before closing in July of that year.

In 2026, Emelina was opened by chef Camila Salazar and restaurateur Álvaro Pérez Miranda, featuring a concept that reimagines Cuban cuisine through the lens of haute gastronomy and a tasting menu format for 16 diners.

What’s to Come: Technology and Innovation

The second episode will arrive on October 12 featuring Erick Remedios, co-founder and business director of Let's Prototype, a company that transforms ideas and inventions into functional products and prototypes with laboratories in Madrid and Miami.

Remedios spent over a decade at BusinessInFact, one of the most active business angel networks in Spain, and since 2020, she has been leading the company's expansion in the United States.

Let's Prototype received the Keys to Miami-Dade County in January 2025 in recognition of its work in technological innovation.

The season will explore different sectors—gastronomy, real estate, professional services, health, retail, and technology—with a common criterion: there must be a business story to tell. Anyone wishing to propose a guest or share their own story can write through the program's website at cibercuba.com/s/showmethemoney/.
