Baby Lores shared an emotional message from her mother in Cuba this Wednesday, amid the distress that the family is experiencing after Cuban authorities prevented her from traveling to the island to be with her during her illness.
The singer posted on Facebook, with his mother's permission, a video in which she speaks directly to him and tries to convey reassurance despite the difficult situation they are facing.
"No worry, my love. I am proud of you, of your values, of your strength to face all the challenges you have encountered in life," the woman tells him.
In his words, he also referred to the comments from some individuals who celebrated the fact that the artist was unable to enter Cuba, due to his political past and for having worn a tattoo of Fidel Castro's face for many years.
Far from reproaching him for that stage of his life, his mother insisted on the pride she feels for him and the importance of moving forward.
In one of the most sensitive moments of her message, the woman even spoke about the possibility that her condition could worsen, although she immediately tried to maintain hope: “Maybe this isn’t the last one, but well, if it were, I leave happy to have had such a good, dedicated child.”
Another of the most touching moments came when she confessed how much she wished she could hug him, but she tried to reassure him from afar: “I would really love to be able to hug you. But here I am. I am strong, I am strong and I will stay strong, you hear me? A big kiss,” she concluded.
Baby Lores accompanied the video with a lengthy message in which he explained that he decided to share his mother's words because there is a family separated by circumstances that prevent them from being together during an especially delicate moment.
“Mama, you tell me that you are proud of me, but I am the one who is proud of you. I know the warrior that you are, and I believe you will overcome this,” he wrote.
The artist emphasized that he does not intend to turn family pain into a spectacle, but rather to reflect a reality that many Cuban families know, forced to confront serious situations on both sides of a border.
"Thousands of Cuban families know what it means to need each other and to have a border, a decision, or a circumstance that prevents them from embracing," he noted.
Lores stated that from now on, his priority will be to explore "all possible legal and humanitarian avenues" so that his mother can receive the medical attention she needs and, eventually, reunite with her family, whether in the United States or anywhere else where a viable alternative exists.
"I'm not asking for privileges. I'm looking for a solution for my mother," he emphasized.
For now, Baby Lores holds on to the hope of embracing his mother again: "I know you are going to get out of there. We have a lot of life ahead of us. And I will do everything legally within my power to be able to hug you. I love you, mom", he concluded.
The new message arrives just four days after Lores reported that Cuban authorities prevented him from entering the country while he was urgently traveling to see her as she was hospitalized in intensive care.
According to what he recounted, he purchased a ticket in Miami, boarded the plane, and took his seat on the aircraft, but just before takeoff, an airline employee informed him that he had to disembark because his entry from Cuba had not been authorized.
This Wednesday, in an interview with Telemundo 51, Lores spoke again about the episode and his past connection with the Cuban regime.
He acknowledged that period without trying to hide it and said that he now understands the pain of exile and those who have suffered family separations in a different way.
For years, the musician faced criticism for his public support of the Cuban system and for having Fidel Castro's face tattooed on his body. In June 2017, he decided to cover that image with another tattoo, subsequently starting a public distancing from the regime.
