A Cuban influencer shared a video review this weekend about her stay at the Memories Jibacoa Resort, the four-star all-inclusive hotel located at Playa Arroyo Bermejo, about 60 kilometers east of Havana, with an assessment that swings between initial disappointment and partial enjoyment.
The content creator Nanda, identified on Instagram as @vive.connanda, posted a reel sharing her experience at the hotel, describing a visit characterized by contrasts: logistical issues from the very beginning, but moments she enthusiastically highlighted, especially the beach.
The first setback occurred at the resort's reception. "We paid a sum of money for early access to the hotel. I understood that when you paid for early check-in, they would give you your room," he said, making it clear that his expectations were not met.
Upon arriving at the restaurant for lunch, the situation did not improve. "There was half an hour left until the buffet opened, and there was already a line of 30 or 40 people," he recounted. His reaction was straightforward: "Gentlemen, this is a hotel, not a queue to buy chicken. There’s no need to stand in line half an hour early."
He also provided an assessment of the gastronomic offerings. The buffet featured a variety of meats, vegetables, sweets, and ice cream, although this was only available at dinner. Additionally, he pointed out the lack of carbonated beverages as another drawback.
The room, on the other hand, marked a positive turn in the experience. "When we finally had access to the room, I must say it was very nice and super clean," she said. It had "a beautiful view of the pool and the mountains."
The nighttime animation also scored points. According to the influencer, each night featured different shows and they were able to participate in what is called the "Cuban day," which she described as "a very colorful event full of tradition."
The most commendable moment of the entire video was reserved for the beach: “The sea was beautiful, without waves. And it conveyed a peace that made you want to stay there.”
"My stay in Jibacoa, although it didn't start very well, was generally not bad either. There were things I enjoyed quite a bit and others that I honestly think could improve," he summarized at the end of his video.
Reviews of Cuban Hotels: A Common Trend
The experience of Nanda is part of a trend that has gained momentum in 2026. Several Cuban influencers document their stays at hotels on the island with varying results.
In April, a Cuban woman tore apart the Grand Aston Varadero and gave it only a three out of ten.
In May, another content creator described her stay at the Meliá Varadero as "bittersweet." That same month, the Selectum Family Resort was described by an influencer as one of the worst hotels she had ever visited.
In June, a review of the Meliá Las Américas described it as a "terrible" and "fatal" experience, with waits of up to two hours at the à la carte restaurant.
In August, another Cuban shared her experience at the Hotel Playa Vista Azul in Varadero, concluding that she would not return due to the overall quality of the food.
The long lines, the limited variety of the buffet, and the failure to comply with early access promises are recurring complaints in the mentioned reviews, while the beaches and the attentive staff tend to enhance the overall rating.
