The young Cuban Anna Bensi released a message against dictatorial governments this Sunday, contrasting absolute obedience to the State with Christian faith, and asserted that there is a realm that no regime can control.

“The problem with dictatorial governments, which demand absolute devotion to the State from the people, is that they know Christians recognize only one supreme authority: CHRIST,” wrote Bensi on her X account.

The young woman added: «We are entirely dependent on God and not on any system. And that is something that no regime can control».

Bensi accompanied the message with the tags #TheOrderToDiscreditTheChurchHasBeenGiven and #ChristHasAlreadyWon, in a post that once again places religious faith at the center of his criticisms of political power in Cuba.

Anna Bensi's statements come at a time when the Cuban regime has increased its confrontation with sectors of the Church and evangelical communities, amidst public accusations against religious leaders and new tensions surrounding the role of churches in civil society.

This Thursday, Pastor Bárbaro Abel Marrero, president of the Western Cuba Baptist Convention and rector of the Baptist Theological Seminary of Havana, responded to accusations spread by the profile El Necio, which pointed to that denomination as one of the main spaces used by the CIA to recruit individuals in Cuba.

The relationship between Anna Bensi and the Western Baptist Convention had become particularly evident days before her trial. On September 30, the religious organization publicly expressed its support for Anna and her mother, Caridad Silvente.

The Board of Directors then called for respect for due process, freedom of expression, religious freedom, and the dignity of both, stating: "We cannot, we do not want to, and we will not leave them alone."
