The euro is approaching the barrier of 900 Cuban pesos in the informal currency market of Cuba, closing this Monday at 885 CUP, while the U.S. dollar also continues its upward trend, reaching 788 pesos.
According to the data from , as of 8:00 p.m. Cuban time, both currencies saw new increases and reached their highest quotes in the last 30 days.
In contrast, the MLC (Freely Convertible Currency) continues to lose value and is around 513 pesos.

Compared to the 872 pesos from a week ago, the European currency has risen by 13 CUP. Additionally, it is just 15 pesos away from reaching the 900 CUP mark, a figure that would establish a new level in its exchange rate.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The euro also maintains a difference of 97 pesos against the US dollar, establishing itself as the highest valued currency among the major currencies traded in the Cuban informal market.
For its part, the U.S. dollar closed at 788 CUP, three pesos above the 785 recorded in the previous session.
In the last seven days, the greenback has risen from 770 to 788 pesos, marking an increase of 18 CUP, which is approximately 2.3%.
The monthly evolution also shows a considerable increase. Thirty days ago, the dollar was around 693 pesos, which represents a difference of 95 CUP compared to the current rate.
However, comparisons from that period should be interpreted with caution due to possible methodological adjustments to the index that may influence the recorded variations.
The situation is different for the MLC: it shows a downward trend while the main foreign currencies continue to rise.
Its indicative exchange rate at the close of this Monday is 513 CUP, compared to 535 pesos from the previous day, a decline of 22 CUP.
The decline is more pronounced when comparing its value to the 578 pesos recorded seven days ago. During that period, the MLC has lost 65 CUP, approximately 11.2% of its exchange rate.
The behavior of the informal market also shows a significant difference compared to the rates of the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC).
According to the values of Segment III recorded for today, the dollar is officially at 698 CUP and the euro at 781 CUP.
This means that the dollar costs 90 pesos more in the informal market, while the difference for the euro reaches 104 CUP.
The gap reflects the distance between both exchange rate references, in a context where the population continues to turn to the informal market to buy and sell currencies.
With the exchange rates recorded at the close of this Monday, 100 dollars are equivalent to 78,800 Cuban pesos and 100 euros represent 88,500 pesos, according to the indicative rates of the informal market.
