opens this Sunday, October 18, 2026, with a new upward trend.

At 10:00 a.m. (Cuban local time), the U.S. dollar rises to an average of 807 Cuban pesos, the euro climbs to 904 pesos, and the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) stands around 652 pesos.

Exchange rate summary

  • Exchange rate of the USD to CUP: 807 CUP
  • Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 904 CUP
  • Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 652 CUP (indicative value, limited data)

The dollar is on the rise

The US dollar is trading at 807 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal market this Sunday.

This represents an increase of two pesos compared to the previous day, when it closed at 805 CUP.

The bullish trend is also evident on the weekly horizon: seven days ago, the greenback was trading at 783 pesos, reflecting an increase of 24 pesos over the last seven days, which amounts to a rise of 3.1%.

Exchange Rate Evolution

Compared to 30 days ago, when the exchange rate was at 703 pesos, the accumulated increase has risen to 104 pesos (+14.8%), although this month-to-month comparison may partially reflect adjustments in the methodology of the index and not solely market movement.

The dollar also reached its highest point in the last 30 days precisely in today's session, at 807 CUP.

The euro, the most expensive currency in the parallel market

The euro is quoted at 904 Cuban pesos (CUP), three pesos above the 901 recorded on the previous day.

In the last week, the European currency has gained 26 pesos compared to the 878 CUP from seven days ago, an increase of 3.0%.

In the monthly outlook, the euro has risen by 101 pesos from 803 CUP thirty days ago (+12.6%). However, as is the case with the dollar, this variation should be interpreted with caution since it may include methodological adjustments to the index.

The highest recorded in the last 30 days is 905 CUP, just one peso above the current level.

It is stated as the most expensive currency in the Cuban parallel market, exceeding the dollar by 97 pesos and consolidating its dominant position.

The MLC, a indicative figure with strong weekly variation

The MLC appears this Sunday at around 652 Cuban pesos (CUP), 18 pesos above the 634 from the previous day.

However, this value should be taken with caution: the source indicates it comes with a warning of limited data during this time period, so it serves as a guiding figure.

In weekly terms, the change is striking: seven days ago, the MLC was at 497 pesos, which implies an increase of 155 pesos in seven days (+31.2%).

Compared to 30 days ago, when it was priced at 454 pesos, the accumulated increase is 198 pesos (+43.6%), although this monthly comparison may also reflect methodological adjustments to the index.

Without a physical existence, its use is limited to state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.

The gap with the official rate is becoming increasingly wide

The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III), at 720 CUP per dollar and 811 CUP per euro, remains well below the values that prevail in everyday practice in the informal currency market.

The difference between the official and informal prices currently stands at 87 pesos for the dollar and 93 pesos for the euro.

In the last 30 days, the official exchange rate of the dollar has risen from 667 to 720 CUP, and that of the euro, from 765 to 811 CUP, a pace of adjustment that has not succeeded in narrowing the gap with the parallel market.
