A fire that broke out early Tuesday morning in the northwest of Miami-Dade consumed a trailer and affected a truck, while a resident of a neighboring building lost their belongings and experienced moments of anguish over their four pets, which ultimately survived.

According to Telemundo 51, the fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. in the West Little River area, near 13th Avenue and 79th and 81st Streets in the northwest of the county, in a location where several vehicles were parked.

The flames spread quickly and went through the trailer's roof, while a thick column of smoke rose above the scene. Images released by local media showed the structure engulfed in fire and several emergency vehicles deployed around it.

A resident feared for the lives of their dogs and rabbits

One of the most distressing moments was experienced by Vladimir Aguirre, who lives with another person and four pets in a structure adjacent to the burned trailer.

Upon arriving at the site and witnessing the damage, Aguirre was shocked by the destruction of his belongings and the uncertainty regarding the whereabouts of his animals.

The man explained to WSVN 7News that he could not find words to describe how he felt about the extent of the losses. During the early hours, Aguirre was unsure if the animals had managed to escape the flames and smoke.

However, hours later he confirmed that all four were alive and safe, although the rabbits remained visibly shaken by what had happened.

An explosion was captured on surveillance cameras

The fire prompted the mobilization of several units from the Miami-Dade Fire Department (MDFR) and agents from the County Sheriff's Office.

According to WSVN, a security camera captured the rapid spread of the fire and an explosion that startled the neighbors.

During the emergency communications, an operator indicated that an explosion had been heard, although it was initially unclear what had caused it.

The firefighters were able to control the flames and subsequently used a specialized foam to prevent the fire from reigniting.

Aerial images taken after the emergency revealed the charred trailer and numerous belongings that were destroyed.

No injuries or hospital transfers were reported, as confirmed by Local 10.

They are investigating whether an electrical fault caused the fire

The Miami-Dade Fire Department initially noted that the fire may have been caused by a malfunction of a nearby electrical transformer, according to reports from CBS News Miami and Local 10.

However, Aguirre assured WSVN that the firefighters had mentioned the possible explosion of some batteries that were being charged.

This latest version has not been confirmed as the official cause, and the authorities are keeping the investigation open.
