A young Cuban decided to take an unexpected turn with the 100 dollars sent by a follower. Instead of spending it on food or covering his daily needs, he chose to invest it to start his own business alongside his mother in Cuba.
The content creator, known on TikTok as @emaanublogger_, shared in a video posted on his account how he used the money to buy merchandise and set up a small sales booth from scratch.
"I live in Cuba, and today a follower sent me 100 dollars, which turned into 55,000 Cuban pesos. Instead of spending it on food, I'm going to invest in my own business," she explained at the beginning of the recording.
With the 55,000 Cuban pesos he claimed to have obtained, the young man went to a wholesale store to buy products that he could later resell. However, he was aware that a poor decision could cause him to lose the money.
"Here is where the game gets dangerous because a wrong calculation can turn those 100 dollars into salt and water," he commented while showing part of the purchasing process.
Once the merchandise was acquired, the next step was to prepare the space where they would place the products. To do this, mother and son purchased a wooden shelf for 8,000 Cuban pesos and equipped it with a thick nylon at the back to prevent the items from falling.
Her mother also took part in the preparations, handling the task of writing down the prices of the products they would be selling by hand.
The initiative adds to other stories of Cubans who have shared their experiences of entrepreneurship on the island, where high prices and economic difficulties pose a challenge for those trying to succeed in their businesses.
Beyond the investment, the young man shared what it meant for him to start this project alongside his mother. “Putting this merchandise in the backpack was a wake-up call for me: it was no longer just 100 dollars from a supporter; it was the sweat of my mom and me packed in a box, ready to fight,” he expressed.
The Cuban, who summed up his attitude towards difficulties with the phrase "Here, if you don't innovate, you don't progress," made it clear that his intention is to continue reinvesting profits to grow the small business.
"Zero fear of success, I will continue investing every penny because what you see here is just the beginning. Remember this day because we are going for more," he stated at the end of the video.
