JetBlue opened reservations for BlueFirst™, its new domestic first class, with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport as the star of the launch scheduled for December 8, 2026, according to the official announcement from the airline published on October 15.
The first commercial flight of BlueFirst will connect Boston Logan with Fort Lauderdale, offering daily service. In the following days, the service will expand to selected flights between Fort Lauderdale and New York's LaGuardia Airport. The choice of FLL is not coincidental: Fort Lauderdale was the first destination JetBlue operated when it launched flights in 2000, and it now also becomes the starting point for its new premium category.
BlueFirst is not Mint, JetBlue's business class available since 2014 on transcontinental routes. It is a distinct product designed for domestic and regional flights where Mint does not operate, featuring a cabin configured two by two and seats with up to seven additional inches of legroom compared to the airline's standard seats.
Each seat includes an individual 13.3-inch screen with Bluetooth connectivity, and on flights of 899 miles or more, passengers have access to the FirstFare service, which includes a main dish, side, and dessert. All flights offer premium snacks, wines selected by sommeliers from Parcelle, specialty coffee, and teas from Smith Teamaker. A feature called "Mixologist Mode" allows passengers to customize cocktails directly from their seat screen.
Travelers can choose from three fare options with significant differences in baggage allowance and flexibility. The BlueFirst option includes two checked bags and does not charge fees for changes or cancellations. BlueFirst Flex adds a refund to the original payment method and has no fees for same-day changes. BlueFirst Base is the lowest-priced option: it includes one checked bag and changes incur a fee. All three options share boarding in Group 1 and priority access to check-in and security at over 30 airports.
The rollout will be gradual and is subject to changes in schedules and aircraft. Following its debut on December 8, BlueFirst will begin routes between Fort Lauderdale and Washington D.C. on the 12th of that month, to Buffalo on the 20th, and to Fort Lauderdale–Liberia (Costa Rica) on the 26th. Austin, Nashville, San Juan, and other destinations will be added starting in January 2027, according to the plans published on jetblue.com.
Fort Lauderdale is a growing strategic market for JetBlue. Following the definitive closure of Spirit Airlines in May 2026, the airline announced 11 new routes from that airport and projected nearly 130 daily departures in the summer, more than 75% higher than the previous year. BlueFirst is joining this premium consolidation initiative in FLL.
“BlueFirst is designed to provide a more accessible first-class experience that combines the hospitality and service customers expect from JetBlue with exceptional value and comfort,” stated Joanna Geraghty, the airline's CEO. “This is just the beginning. As we roll out BlueFirst to more aircraft, customers will see it available on routes and markets throughout our network.”
