opens this Tuesday, October 27th, with mixed signals: the dollar rises and reaches a new sales record, while the euro slightly declines.
At 10:00 a.m. (Cuban local time), the U.S. dollar rises to an average of 843 CUP, while the euro falls to 929 CUP.
The Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) also declines, in this case down to 564 pesos, a value that should be taken as indicative due to the low volume of transactions recorded during this time frame.
Summary of exchange rates
- Exchange rate of the USD to CUP: 843 CUP.
- Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 929 CUP.
- Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 564 CUP (indicative value, few data).
Dollar (USD): new upward momentum
The US dollar is trading this Tuesday at 843 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal market, with a buying rate of 840 CUP and a selling rate of 845 CUP.
This represents an increase of three pesos compared to the previous day, when the average value was 840 CUP.
Exchange Rate Evolution
In a weekly perspective, the U.S. dollar has risen by 25.5 pesos —a 3.1%— compared to the 817 CUP it was at seven days ago.
The 30-day comparison shows an increase of 101.5 pesos (+13.7%), although this change may partly reflect methodological adjustments to the index rather than solely market movement.
In the last month, the dollar has reached a high of 843 CUP —the current level— and a low of 740 CUP.
Euro (EUR): slight pullback after days of climbing
The euro eases slightly this Tuesday and is trading at an average of 929 CUP, with a buying price of 925 CUP and a selling price of 932 CUP.
Regarding the previous session, when the average value reached 930 CUP —the highest in the last 30 days— the drop is just 1.5 pesos (-0.2%), which does not break the upward trend of recent days.
In the last week, the euro has risen 23.5 pesos (+2.6%) from the 905 CUP of seven days ago.
In the last month, it has accumulated a profit of 86.5 pesos (+10.3%) compared to the 842 CUP from 30 days ago, although this comparison should be interpreted cautiously due to potential methodological adjustments.
It maintains its advantage over the dollar, driven by limited supply and demand from those receiving remittances from Europe.
MLC: indicative data with low volume
The freely convertible currency (MLC) is positioned this Tuesday at around 564 Cuban pesos on average, with a purchase rate of 526 CUP and a selling rate of 602 CUP.
This value should be taken as a guideline, as the volume of transactions recorded in this range is limited.
Regarding the previous session, the MLC has decreased 10 pesos (-1.7%) from the 574 CUP recorded yesterday, and over the last week, it has accumulated a drop of 12 pesos (-2.1%) compared to the 576 CUP from seven days ago.
In the last month, the MLC has fluctuated between a maximum of 742 CUP and a minimum of 457 CUP, a range that reflects the volatility and the lack of data in this segment.
Without physical existence, its use is limited to state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation in comparison to cash currencies.
The gap between the informal market and the official rate
The official exchange rate of the Banco Central de Cuba (Segment III), at 749 CUP per dollar and 837 CUP per euro, remains well below the values that prevail in everyday practice in the informal currency market.
The difference is 94 pesos in the case of the dollar and 92 pesos in the case of the euro, a gap that illustrates the divide between the official economy and the reality on the street. In the last month, the official dollar rate has increased from 681 to 749 CUP, and the euro rate has risen from 776 to 837 CUP, reflecting a sustained devaluation of the peso in the official channel as well.

Methodology
The CiberCuba Exchange Rate is an index of the informal Cuban market created from the automated analysis of thousands of currency trading postings in Telegram and Facebook groups.
