opens this Monday, November 2, 2026, with the dollar and the euro gaining ground against the Cuban peso.
The Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), for its part, has slightly decreased, although its quotation should be taken as a guiding reference given the low volume of transactions recorded during this time frame.
Summary of rates
- Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 895 CUP.
- Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 983 CUP.
- Exchange rate of MLC to CUP: 561 CUP (indicative value, limited data).
The dollar is on the rise
At 10:00 a.m. (Cuban local time), the US dollar is priced at 895 Cuban pesos (CUP) as the average value in the informal market, with a buying rate of 890 CUP and a selling rate of 900 CUP.
This represents an increase of 1.5 pesos compared to the previous day, when the average value was 894 CUP.
The daily progress is modest, but the weekly trend is more significant: in the last seven days, the dollar has risen by 55 pesos, a 6.5% increase.
Exchange Rate Evolution
Compared to 30 days ago, the quotation has increased by 110 pesos, although it is important to consider that part of this variation may reflect methodological adjustments of the index rather than solely market movement.
In the last month, the dollar has fluctuated between a low of 768 CUP and the current high of 895 CUP. It continues to set the tone for the informal market in a context of structural currency shortages.
The euro, the most expensive currency, rises sharply
The euro opens around 983 Cuban pesos (CUP) as the average value, with a purchase price of 975 CUP and a selling price of 991 CUP.
This represents an increase of 12 pesos compared to the previous day, when the average value was 971 CUP, which reflects a variation of 1.2%.
However, it is advisable to approach this quotation with caution: the European currency is marked with a warning of limited data during this time frame, so the value should be considered indicative.
In the last week, the euro has risen by 55 pesos (5.9%), and over the past month, it has accumulated a gain of 102.5 pesos, although part of this movement may be due to methodological adjustments of the index.
The highest recorded in the last 30 days is 985 CUP, very close to the current level. It is stated as the most expensive currency in the Cuban parallel market, exceeding the dollar by 88 pesos in the average value.
The MLC is yielding, with limited data
The MLC is positioned around 561 Cuban pesos (CUP) as an indicative average value, with a purchase rate at 612 CUP and a selling rate at 509 CUP.
Like the euro, this currency is showing a warning of limited data at the opening, so its valuation should be interpreted with caution.
Regarding the previous session, the MLC falls by 7.5 pesos, a decrease of 1.3%.
In the last week, it has declined by 29 pesos (4.9%), although over a 30-day horizon, it has accumulated a positive variation of 90.5 pesos, a figure that may be influenced by methodological adjustments of the index.
The maximum in the last 30 days was 742 CUP and the minimum was 457 CUP.
Without physical existence, its use is limited to state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.
The gap with the official rate
The official exchange rate of the Banco Central de Cuba (Segment III), at 768 CUP per dollar and 857 CUP per euro, remains far below the values that apply in everyday practice in the informal foreign exchange market.
The difference between the official price and the informal one reaches 127 pesos in the case of the dollar and 126 pesos in the case of the euro.
Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains far from that of the informal market and fails to meet the actual demand for foreign currency among the population.
In the last month, the official exchange rate for the dollar went from 695 to 768 CUP, and for the euro, from 783 to 857 CUP, a adjustment that has not managed to narrow the gap with the parallel market.
In a scenario of sustained inflation, low state salaries, and growing partial dollarization of the economy, every variation in the informal market directly impacts internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans.
Methodology
The CiberCuba Exchange Rate is an index of the informal Cuban market created from the automated analysis of thousands of currency buy and sell posts in Telegram and Facebook groups.
The calculation filters out atypical offers and spam messages, weighs each transaction based on its age, and consolidates a representative value that is updated several times a day.
