The difference between Miami-Dade and the state result
Although Jolly and Nixon lead the two contests within Miami-Dade, Decision Desk HQ projects Byron Donalds' victory for governor across Florida and Ashley Moody's for the federal Senate. These are projections of statewide results, not electoral certifications or victories for those candidates in Miami-Dade.
In the state recount of the Senate published by DDHQ as of 03:00 Eastern Time on November 4, Moody has a total of 4,207,774 votes (50.87%) and Nixon has 3,968,811 (47.98%). This state count is independent of that of Miami-Dade and should not be confused with the county figures.
Participation of 60.50% and differences by voting method
The Miami-Dade Elections Supervisor reports that 794,583 ballots have been cast out of 1,313,268 registered voters, representing a participation rate of 60.50%. The ballots issued are not the denominator used to calculate the percentage for each candidate, as each contest has its own total of published votes.
The breakdown shows that Jolly surpassed Donalds in both mail-in votes (118,815 to 71,591) and early votes (178,473 to 169,257). In contrast, Donalds had a narrow lead in votes cast on Election Day (119,152 to 117,812). Nixon outperformed Moody in all three categories: mail-in, early voting, and Election Day.
The fact that all reporting units are listed does not mean that the counting is certified. The electoral authority warns that the results are still preliminary and are subject to the review of provisional ballots and correction statements before official certification. It is also not possible to deduce how Cubans or Cuban Americans specifically voted from these totals, as the data corresponds to the entire county and does not identify the origin of its voters.
