"The deportations will continue." With this brief warning, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, reaffirmed on Wednesday that the Donald Trump administration will maintain its immigration operations, a day after the midterm elections.

The message, published on his official X account, was accompanied by another statement in which Mullin defended the actions of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and assured that its agents will continue making arrests throughout the year, including during holidays and election days.

"Every day of the year, ICE agents are dedicated to locating and apprehending criminal aliens in an irregular situation to make the United States safe again," he stated, adding that the operations include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Election Day.

According to the official, during the election day on Tuesday, ICE arrested immigrants with prior convictions for attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a weapon, and child sexual abuse.

"The Trump administration will never apologize for putting the safety of the American people first," he added.

The statements come after Mullin warned that only American citizens should decide the elections of the country and threatened sanctions against those who participate illegally in the voting.

The new warning comes as the federal government continues its intense policy of arrests and expulsions.

According to figures released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on November 3, by October 2026, the Trump administration had recorded nearly 1.2 million deportations and over 1.25 million arrests of undocumented immigrants since January 2025.

Among the recent operations, an ICE intervention in Texas is notable, concluding with more than 4,000 arrests in ten days, according to federal authorities.
