First images of the plane crash in Cuba

The aircraft crashed minutes after departing from José Martí International Airport in Havana.

A video reported to CiberCuba has revealed the first images of the plane crash involving the Boeing 737 from Cubana de Aviación.

A Cubana de Aviación plane crashes at José Martí International Airport.

The aircraft fell minutes after departing from José Martí International Airport in Havana, just a few meters from Terminal 1.

According to EFE, the flight was made up of 104 passengers and foreign crew members. In the vicinity of the airport, a large column of smoke can be seen. Rescue operations are currently underway, as well as efforts to contain the flames.

Numerous fire crews, police, and medical assistance teams have arrived at the scene.

Preliminary information received at our editorial office indicates that this concerns national flight CU972 (HAV-HOG), which was covering the Havana-Holguín route. The estimated arrival time was 12:20 local time.

So far, there has been no additional information about the incident, although sources from Havana have confirmed to CiberCuba that the aircraft fell near a pre-university institution.
