According to their publication, the deceased was a man between 40 and 47 years old, with dark skin. At the time of the incident, he was alone on the beach.

The incident occurs right at the beginning of summer, a time of year when the influx of beachgoers to the eastern beaches of Cuba significantly increases.

However, it is also a season when tragedies of this kind often recur, especially in areas like Juraguá, which is known among locals for the presence of dangerous underwater currents.

Neighbors and regular users of the beach have repeatedly warned about the risks of swimming in this area, which, although monitored, continues to be the scene of reckless behavior by some swimmers.

In a later update on his Facebook profile, journalist Mayeta confirmed that the victim was a man known as "La Olla," originally from the town of Dos Caminos, in the San Luis municipality.

According to the details provided, he was at the beach with a relative when the drowning occurred. Witnesses indicated that both were under the influence of alcohol and that the man began to "cramp up" before sinking, unable to be rescued.

Despite the emergency services being notified, as of the report, no rescuers or medical personnel had arrived at the scene. The exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.

On social media, several Cubans expressed their sorrow over the incident and agreed on raising awareness about the dangers of this beach.

According to comments, the victim's family members have already been informed of the incident. The user Suleydis Carmañol stated that she was from Dos Caminos, while Yunirelis Quiala mentioned that she was from the area of Monte de La Mejorana. Both locations are part of the municipality of San Luis, in Santiago de Cuba.

Renervis Alpízar Barroso recalled that recently a girl drowned in Chalón, even without any currents; “imagine if there were currents,” he commented.

“Very dangerous beach, do not let your guard down or leave children or young people alone; it's said to have currents and sandbanks,” wrote Iván Martínez.

Another user, Hernández Ramírez, shared a similar tragedy that occurred in the 90s: “A colleague of mine, with whom I was in the Angola war, went to Juraguá on his honeymoon and drowned after going for a ball… he never reappeared.”

“That beach is the most dangerous in Santiago; it has strong undercurrents,” said Dany AG Lestapi.

Lisandra González Rodríguez added: “Family, be aware that summer is here. Take care of your children. Playa Juraguá is very dangerous. Don’t let your guard down to prevent these things from happening. Rest in peace, my condolences to their families. How sad.”

In February, the lifeless body of the young César Valentín Pérez García was found in a river in Songo La Maya, better known as "El Saltadero," who had jumped into the water the night before and did not resurface, according to eyewitness accounts.

Images shared by journalist Yosmany Mayeta showed the anticipation of dozens of people who were gathered by the river while divers and relatives of César attempted to locate the body.

In April, with deep sorrow, it was confirmed that the lifeless body of the 8-year-old boy who had been reported missing days earlier at the beach of Villa Los Pinos in Boca de Camarioca, Matanzas province, was found.

According to Radio Victoria de Girón on their Telegram channel, the body was found in the area of 54th Street in Varadero, after an intensive search that involved rescue teams, border guards, local fishermen, and numerous community residents, who joined together in solidarity to help find the child.
