Note
Fried Rice is one of the stir-fried rice dishes influenced by Asian culture in Cuba. It is a popular dish that makes the most of available ingredients on the Island. There are different recipes, and it is generally prepared using a wok, which is a type of deep and wide skillet that allows you to mix many ingredients together. This is a rich, nutritious dish that is quick to make. We hope you enjoy this recipe, which may seem complex due to the variety of ingredients, but is very easy to prepare.
Ingredients
- 2 tazas de white rice cocido, preferentemente sin sal
- 2 onions
- 3 crushed garlic cloves
- 1 stalk of leek
- 1 bunch of chives (spring onion)
- ½ red bell pepper
- 120 grams of diced bacon
- 200 grams of roasted pork meat
- 150 grams of sweet ham
- 3 tablespoons of oil
- 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 200 grams of cleaned shrimp
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon of Michín or monosodium glutamate
- 3 eggs
Instructions
Wash and cut all the vegetables into thin julienne strips or dice them. Dice the meats and sausages as well. Beat the eggs and prepare an omelet or scrambled eggs, then set everything aside.
Put the wok on high heat. Add the oil, and when it's hot, add the onion and garlic. Remove it and cook each ingredient separately.
Once the mise en place is ready, start mixing all the ingredients in the wok over high heat. Continuously stir-fry to evenly distribute the heat, then add the cooked white rice and mix well.
Add the soy sauce and continue stir-frying the wok ingredients. Once well combined, check the salt level. Finally, add the bean sprouts and finely chopped chives, mix, and let the rice rest for a couple of minutes.
Serve it freshly made for the last time. You can accompany it with soy sauce so that each diner can add it to their liking. Our chef also added a fried egg, but that's up to your choice.
Enjoy your meal!!
