Note:
A recipe to make the most of ingredients because in Cuba, we’ve never been able to throw away a liter of soured milk! Here’s the recipe from our files.
Ingredients:
- 2 liters of milk
- 1 pound of white sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 green lime
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- 3 drops of vanilla
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions:
Mix the milk and sugar well. Add the egg yolks and the juice of half a lemon. Once everything is well combined, strain the mixture. Add the vanilla, salt, cinnamon, and the grated zest of half a lemon. Let this mixture rest for half an hour. Heat it over high heat until it comes to a boil. Then reduce to medium heat and stir occasionally.
When the dessert is golden and the syrup reaches the right consistency, it's ready.
