Note:
Burgers are a dish associated with U.S. cuisine. It could be said that Americans have spread it around the world. However, it has a much older history. Mongols and Turks were the first to grind less desirable cuts of meat to make them easier to eat. Later, the Tartars introduced these balls of raw, spiced meat into German culture. German immigrants brought it to the United States, where the first hamburger emerged in 1895. Its creator was chef Louis Lassen, who is said to have received the recipe from a sailor from Hamburg. If this story has made you want to try our burger, I won’t keep you waiting longer. To make a burger with Cuban flavor, there are a couple of ingredients that must not be missing. Most Cubans prefer pork burgers, although you can also find mixed, chicken, turkey, or even soy picadillo burgers. They are usually seasoned with salt, pepper, cumin, and garlic. One element that will transport you directly to Cuba with your palate is cilantro, but use only a subtle touch, because it is a very potent herb in flavor and could dominate the dish if you add too much. This is a quick, delicious, and easy recipe to make. It is a classic of American cuisine that you can find worldwide. It is usually accompanied by French fries and soft drinks, although here we present it a cappella. You can add whatever you like best.
Ingredients:
  • 2 hamburger buns, round with sesame seeds
  • 250 grams of ground pork (raw)
  • 2 slices of cheese
  • ½ onion
  • Salt, cumin, garlic powder, oregano, and pepper to taste.
  • Chopped cilantro very finely
  • Mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup
  • 4 slices of bacon or York ham
  • 1 ripe tomato
  • 50 grams of fresh lettuce
Instructions:

Season the ground pork with salt and pepper. Add cumin, garlic powder, and oregano to taste. Also incorporate a little finely chopped cilantro. Mix well until you achieve a compact mixture.

Divide the meat into equal parts. Make some balls and flatten them. Try to make them even and, above all, ensure that the meat doesn't have excess liquid. If you notice that they are not compact enough, add a tablespoon of wheat flour and mix again.

When the burgers are ready, reserve them in the refrigerator for at least two hours. Prepare the ingredients you will use to assemble the burger later. Cut the lettuce into very thin strips and slice the tomato.

The hamburger should be eaten freshly made to keep the meat warm and juicy. You can make it in a skillet, in the oven, and some people even fry it.

In this case, it was made in the pan, over low heat until it was nicely browned on both sides. To know if it is cooked inside, poke it with a fork, and if it stops oozing blood, it is just right.

When you finish cooking it, place the slice of cheese on top so that it melts with the heat. And start frying the bacon quickly.

To assemble the burger, cut the bread in half. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half, then ketchup. On the top half, add mustard to taste.

The use of sauces is optional; everyone has different tastes. When you have them spread the way you like, place the burger with the melted cheese.

On top of the meat, place the lettuce and the tomato; otherwise, the weight and heat of the hamburger will cause the vegetables to lose their freshness and crunch.

On top of the tomato, add the bacon, fried egg, ham, or whatever you wish to include. To finish, add very finely julienned red onion.
