Note:
Italian-style liver is a very common recipe in Cuban cuisine. It is one of those dishes that we have adopted as our own, but in its name, it evokes other regions, as happens, for example, with Uruguayan steak.
Italian-style liver is a delicious and easy dish to make. It is also economical and can be prepared with either beef liver or pork liver, or even chicken liver.
Bon appetit!!
Ingredients:
- 500 grams of beef liver
- 1 onion
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 red bell pepper
- 4 cloves of garlic
- ½ cup of dry wine
- ÂĽ cup of apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce (optional)
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (optional)
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Spicy to taste
Instructions:
Cut the liver into strips about 2 to 3 cm long. Season with salt and pepper, add lemon juice, and set aside.
In a saucepan, sauté the garlic and then add the liver. Stir continuously to ensure it browns evenly. When it starts to brown, add the peppers and the onion cut into julienne strips. Mix the ingredients well, adjust the salt to your taste, and add heat as you like. Add the dry wine, cover it, and let it cook until it reaches your desired doneness.
Some people add a little milk to keep the liver tender. But it’s up to their choice.
Serve it with white rice and fried plantains, or tostones.
Enjoy it.
