- 520 grams of puff pastry dough
- guava paste
- 2 tablespoons of butter
For this recipe, we will use pre-made puff pastry. If you wish to make your own dough, I recommend visiting María Lunarillos' blog. This chef offers a very detailed recipe with all the steps.
Select the puff pastry from your preferred brand at the market. It will be ready to bake. Typically, the dough comes divided into two parts, and both are placed on parchment paper for direct placement on the baking tray.
Extend the first half with parchment paper on your baking tray. Neatly arrange uniform pieces of guava paste on top, ensuring they are evenly spaced so they are centered in what will be your pastry. Refer to the photo and adjust the amount of guava according to your preference.
Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
Carefully spread the second part of the dough over the one prepared with the guava paste on the tray. Cover it and shape the cake.
Using a pizza cutter or a knife, cut the dough while trying to move it as little as possible. This way, when the pastries are finished baking, they will be easy to separate. Brush them with butter using a kitchen brush.
Bake at 200ºC until golden and crispy. The time will depend on the specific characteristics of each oven. Try to ensure that the tray receives heat evenly from both the top and bottom to avoid uneven browning.
Take your cakes out of the oven and remember to wait a bit before eating them, as the guava inside stays very hot. Slice them up and be on the lookout because those warm cakes... will disappear in no time in the kitchen!
Enjoy your meal!!!
