Chicken is a common ingredient in culinary preparations worldwide. Studies on the origins of food indicate that the first domesticated hens and chickens came from India over 4,000 years ago. However, it was during the 20th century that the widespread consumption of these birds took off. They became a staple in diets due to their high protein content and low fat levels. The recipe for Chicken Strips is enjoyed across the globe. Each culture prepares it with its own distinctive flavors and spices. Some food production companies have prospered significantly from this dish and others made with chicken. In this instance, we present our way of preparing it with a distinctly Cuban flavor. Ingredients:
  • 1 chicken breast
  • ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon of oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup of oil for frying
Instructions:

Cut the chicken breast into strips, aiming for similar thickness and size. Season them with salt and pepper, then add the remaining spices, ensuring a balanced mix. Mix well and let them marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

In a bag, place the wheat flour and add the strips of chicken. Shake it so that the flour adheres to the pieces of meat.

Remove the excess flour and dip the floured chicken strips in the beaten egg. Then repeat the process with the bag, but this time using breadcrumbs.

Set aside the breaded chicken strips and discard the leftover flour and breadcrumbs.

In a pot, heat the oil over high heat. Fry the chicken in the hot oil until it is golden brown. Let it drain on paper towels and serve hot.
