Birthday is almost approaching Jennifer Lopez, who will turn 50 this July 24, and to celebrate, the prestigious Italian fashion house, Versace, has created sneakers in honor of the brand's iconic dress, which the diva wore in 2000.
The daring garment, called Jungle Dress, marked a before and after in the career of JLo, who was just making her way in the music industry, in that of Donatella Versace, who reaffirmed herself as a designer, in fashion and even in Google.
After the Bronx diva posed on the 2000 Grammy red carpet in a green silk chiffon dress, tropical prints and a stunning neckline, searches for the garment on Google reached such a magnitude that it gave way to the creation of the Google Images search engine, as revealed by Eric Schmidt, executive president of Google.
Almost 20 years later, Versace has rescued the print and used it in another of the singer's passions: sports shoes.
under the name Chain Reaction, the sneakers are now on sale for just over $1,000 with models for women and men.
The Jungle Dress has become a fashion milestone and turned JLo into a fashion icon. The garment has been exhibited in several museums and a copy is permanently in the Fashion Museum, as Dress of the Year 2000. Another copy is in the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The original dress remains in the possession of Jennifer Lopez.
