The Isle of Youth beat Matanzas with 13 runs and home runs by Eliseo Rojas and Jordanys Acebal. The Pirates had six scoreless innings and two strikeouts from Miguel Ángel Lastra.
In Captain San Luis, the Alazanes de Granma avoided the sweep against the Tsunami from Pinar del Río, which was about to overcome a six-score difference. Yulián Milián homered for the Granma team and Pinar had three hits from Juan Carlos Arencibia and Renier León.
Camaguey swept Mayabeque with an offensive of 17 hits, three from Alexander Ayala and Humberto Bravo, in addition to the effective pitching of Frank Madam.
Lisbán Correa was the hero of Industriales' knockout of Ciego de Ávila. Correa drove in three with his first homer of the game.
Artemisa avoided the sweep of Cienfuegos with three hits from Moisés Esquerre and Lian Camilo Rodríguez, while Las Tunas won the series against Villa Clara with home runs from Denis Peña and Yordanis Alarcón that started the season on fire.
Santiago de Cuba completed the sweep with its second knockout against the diminished Guantanamo Indians. Ulfrido García took the victory and 17 hits.
And the best of the 3rd game of the season were Frederich Cepeda's two home runs to lead the Gallos' victory against Holguín. Cepeda reached 299 and is now one away from entering the legendary group of 300.
