The prices of the passenger transportation services of the Taxi Base Business Unit, in Sancti Spíritus, had to decrease as a result of several complaints from the population following the rates set by the ordering task in the country.
Omar Alberto Cardoso Hernández, Quality Management technician, told the local media Escambray that "now social services reduce their price to 0.62 cents per kilometer per person when it comes to medical discharges from any hospital center in the province and the destination is within its own territory."
According to the official, that same charging rate per occupied seat "is the one we apply for the transportation of patients undergoing special in-hospital treatments, previously authorized by Health institutions."
However, he also explained that if it is a free service, the amount charged per kilometer is 1.25 pesos, "although when the trips are interprovincial and are contracted by third parties, not by natural persons, the price per kilometer is 8 pesos." ".
Cardoso Hernández also pointed out that they currently have about 30 taxis for free service, which go to the traditional collection points where there is greater influx of public, such as the Interprovincial and Intermunicipal terminals and hospital areas.
Although, according to what he said, not all municipal seats have piqueras with these characteristics, people interested in hiring a car to move to another territory, even outside the province, can do so through the base itself.
With the ordering task that began in the country on January 1, the government raised the prices of many products that are now only paid for in Cuban pesos. However, there have been many complaints from Cubans regarding the price change.
In Santiago de Cuba something similar happened with transportation prices, so the authorities They decided to lower the prices of the taxi service in the province after complaints from passengers.
Other sectors have also been forced to lower their prices due tor the discontent of the population, which have affected both the basic basket and electricity or sales at the Coppelia ice cream parlor.
Recently the Cuban government had to announce the decrease in electricity rates after strong pressure. Now, the modified rate is now 0.33 Cuban pesos in the consumption range from 0 to 100 kWh, from the 0.40 announced for the regulation. The sections of 301-350, 351-400 and 401-450 kWh/month are the ones that had the greatest reduction with respect to the announced rate, with a modification from 7.50 to 4 pesos; 9 to 5 pesos and 9 to 6 pesos, respectively.
