The driver of a taxi In Havana he denounced the acts of vandalism committed on the road that connects the José Martí International Airport with the capital, and showed the damage caused to his vehicle due to a stone throw of which he was the victim.
“Last night the windshield of one of our cars was broken in the vicinity of the road from CUJAE to the Airport. Luckily there was only damage to the middle, with no injuries. These acts of vandalism are very degrading. “Our drivers are asked to take all kinds of measures,” said the employee of the taxi agency in social networks.
His publication, shared through the Facebook group 'Buses & Truck Accidents. For more experience and fewer victims!', showed the damage caused to the windshield of the vehicle, in which the impact of two stones could be seen.
Several users expressed their indignation at acts that put people's lives at risk and they denounced the passivity of the police before events like this, which on many occasions are part of the strategy used by assailants to steal passengers' belongings.
Passed by vehicles coming from the Havana Airport, this stretch of road has been witness to assault on other vehicles, many of which circulate with luggage and valuables of travelers arriving on the Island.
“It really is sad, but even more so that the police do nothing even though it has been reported on many occasions, since this has become very common in that section,” commented a user in the publication.
“This has been happening for a while for the driver to stop, and then they attack him,” said another user. “That has been happening for a long time. A relative of mine was almost killed with a brick. I don't know what they are waiting for to take action,” added another.
At the end of last June, A Cuban driver told how he avoided an assault at the airport exit International "José Martí", from Havana.
Elvis Pablo Piñón Lora, a private taxi driver in the Cuban capital, explained that around 10:30 p.m. He was leaving the airport, and at the intersection of the CUJAE traffic light, exiting onto Boyeros Avenue, they tried to assault him.
"Luckily I was able to escape," the man said in a Facebook post, and also warned other drivers to be careful in that area, known to be dangerous.
Piñón Lora asserted that the assailants hid among the grass and waited for the right moment to climb into the trunk and try to steal. "I never stopped, but we have to slow down because it is a dangerous intersection, I was able to accelerate, swerve and get rid of them," he explained.
In July 2022, drivers from the Cuban capital once again warned about the assaults that take place in the vicinity of the "José Martí" International Airport, especially in areas where there are traffic lights.
"They took my suitcases out of the trunk and I didn't even realize it.. This happens frequently and the PNR does nothing about it," described one driver.
