A group of Cubans was arrested in Paraguay for presenting false identity documents to local health authorities in the city of Presidente Franco, located in the eastern sector of the country.
The arrest of the Cubans was carried out by the 6th Police Station of the aforementioned Paraguayan city, in theDepartment of Alto Paraná. They indicated that the detainees presented identity cards that did not belong to them, in a procedure at a medical center.
The Paraguayan police indicated that the Cubans L.C.M.D. (29 years) C.M.R.L. (32 years old) L.F.H.M. (44 years old) were traveling with an 8-year-old girl. They presented the false documents when requesting the international vaccination record at a Health Center located on Mariscal López Avenue, in the San Antonio neighborhood.
The Paraguayan newspaperLast hour, reported that the police arrested the Cubans and took them to the police station where it was found that the document numbers did not correspond to the identities of the detainees, even though the names they reflected were real.
The deputy chief of the 6th Police Station,Jorge Lopez, said that at first glance you could detect that they were not original documents due to the material they used to prepare them. In addition, he pointed out that the identities did not appear in the system and specified that in the case of the girl the data appeared, but with the photo of another little girl.
Radio Monumental 1080 AM He noted that the detained Cubans claim to be doctors who lived in Uruguay. They said that they asked a person for help to obtain the Paraguayan ID and entered the country through the border with Brazil.
The Uruguayan newspaper El País recently detailed how each timemore Cubans risk leaving that nation to undertake a dangerous journey to the United States. They must pass through at least ten countries (Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico).
Presidente Franco is known as the city of the Three Borders in Paraguay. It is located on the banks of the Paraná River and could be on the path of a migratory route to the United States.
The Identification Department of the National Police of Paraguay reported that they will create an identity card with a chip to make the documents more secure and prevent forgeries. The change of ID cards to citizenship is expected to be carried out gradually as the expiration dates of the current ones come to pass.
