The club of electric motorcycles of Cuba alerted its members about a wave of "worrying" assaults that are occurring in the country, especially in Havana.
In a post on its Facebook page, the group detailed that the attacks happen "both at night and during the day, both in good areas and in bad areas."
"From Moto Eléctrica Cuba we ask the government to do something about it now! Cuba has always had the motto to the world that we are a safe country where we can walk and drive safely on our streets. Today we do not feel safe, this wave of assaults that have been seen on social networks with armed weapons, knives, ropes, machete, stones, it's too much!" he said.
The club warned its members to be careful when traveling on the streets, "especially in the early hours or at night" and listed actions they should take to protect themselves from possible attacks.
"Do not carry everything of value together, do not leave valuables visible, do not use unlocked bags, do not open your bag or take out your cell phone unnecessarily in crowded places or if you are alone in an unknown place, walk or drive on main roads. All caution is insufficient. Don't let these thieves ruin your New Year's Eve or harm your family. Be careful with teenagers on the street at late hours!" the post detailed.
Moto Eléctrica Cuba asked that its post be shared so that it reaches the authorities responsible for solving the safety problem suffered by motorcyclists.
"We once again ask the government to take measures to address this serious situation. We live in a blocked country, with thousands of needs and on top of that, also in a country without citizen security? We believe they can do something to stop this dangerous wave of assaults," he concluded.
These types of crimes take place with increasing frequency in Cuba.
In April a woman posted on her social networks videos of two young people in Havana who according to her were dedicated to stealing electric motorcycles in the Playa area, near the Tropicana cabaret, just the day a motorbike was stolen while turning from his house.
"They were going around trying to steal my son's motorcycle and as you will see in one of the videos, one of the thieves touches my son's motorcycle to see if the alarm was activated, but after a while they noticed that there were security cameras outside "said Belinda Leyva Ladrón de Guevara, a resident of the area.
On occasions, robberies have been reported in which the thieves have used a strong violence against victims, who have been hit and injured.
In March, a family from the capital reported that two thieves had stolen their electric motorcycle at gunpoint, "one white and one colored, 25 to 30 years old, on a red motorbike, in the area of 10 de Octubre. They stole our motorbike yesterday, Thursday on Lawton Street on the corner of Bellavista, at 7:20 pm," described one of the victims.
That same month two criminals gave him three stab wounds to a young man to take his motorcycle.
The incident occurred between 1:00 and 2:00 in the afternoon at the Reparto Eléctrico, in Havana, when the subjects gave the owner of the motorcycle three stab wounds that pierced his stomach, arm and part of his head. leg.
